HyperSilence.net exists so that you can find and download, for free, the open source PHP scripts I've coded. It's also somewhat of a personal site because you can view pictures of my 1972 Firebird and my 1979 Trans Am. The site was first online June 23, 2005, created with the help of Notepad++ and Adobe Photoshop. This is the fifth layout. There are ten PHP scripts available to download.
Happy New Year posted on January 1, 2009
You should know the drill by now if you were here for the past two years. All thirteen scripts have been updated with altered readme.txt files and copyright dates.
Three New Interior Pictures posted on November 30, 2008
For the first time in over a year, I've decided to take a few more pictures of My 1972 Firebird. There are three new interior shots at the bottom of all the rest of the pictures.
Happy Anniversary posted on June 23, 2008
Had to wait a day longer this year because of February 29, but it finally arrived. Today, June 23, 2008 is the three year anniversary of HyperSilence.net, though you probably already figured that out from the colorful logo change today. In celebration of the anniversary, all users with more than one post on the Boards will receive a 30 Karma bonus, in addition to the 1 if you logged in yesterday. Four years, here we come.
Mistake in Silentum Poll v1.2.0 Fixed posted on April 5, 2008
Thanks to a helpful viewer, I've been informed that I forgot to set a redirect variable in Silentum Poll, so the poll wouldn't properly redirect users after they voted. This has been fixed, and because the change is so minute, the version number has stayed the same.
April Fools posted on April 2, 2008
I know it wasn't the most elaborate prank in the world, but it's what I could come up with in the time frame of an hour. I personally enjoyed last year's prank much better. In case you missed it yesterday, here's a summary screenshot.
Silentum Guestbook v2.0.2 Released posted on March 13, 2008
Because I've been getting a few complaints lately about the size of the font in the CAPTCHA image, I've decided to make a little modification to Silentum Guestbook. Now, included in the package is a file called "font.gdf." This is the font used for the new CAPTCHA image. It's much larger and clearer than the default font which was used before. I've also changed the backgrounds so that all five characters will fit in the image.
Silentum Uploader v1.4.0 Released posted on March 6, 2008
Due to a helpful point from a viewer, I've fixed a small error in Silentum Uploader. Before, any folder name that wasn't six characters long wouldn't allow correct deletion of files. This has been changed in Silentum Uploader v1.4.0. A screenshot of the new version can be seen here.
Silentum Guestbook v2.0.1 Released posted on February 15, 2008
Not the biggest update in the world, but a helpful one nonetheless. The change in this version is the combination of two files. "pages.php" and "view.php" have been combined into one file, "include.php." This saves space and makes the guestbook more organized. The new version is up for download here, and can be previewed here.
Small Glitch in Silentum Guestbook Fixed posted on January 28, 2008
A small glitch concerning censored words has been fixed in Silentum Guestbook. Previously, if a censored word was detected in a past entry, it would prevent all newer entries from being added whether or not the newer entries had a censored word in them. This has been fixed in an updated package of v2.0.0.
Silentum Guestbook v2.0.0 Released posted on January 26, 2008
Since the verification image has been working so well on the registration page of Silentum Boards v2.1, I've abolished the text based verification code in Silentum Guestbook, and instead replaced it with a verification image. It adds a few more files to the script, but they're well worth it. The new version is available for download here, and can be previewed here.
Silentum FormSend v1.5.0 Released posted on January 21, 2008
The change in this version is the addition of email headers. This will put the sender's email address on the "From" and "Reply To" fields in the email, not only allowing you to identify the sender more easily, but also reply with less hassle. The new version is available for download here, and a screenshot can be previewed here.
Silentum Poll v1.2.0 Released posted on January 18, 2008
This new version of Silentum Poll boasts a pretty handy feature. You can now choose whether or not to hide the results until after the user votes. This can be used so that the current vote total doesn't influence the user before voting. I've left the demo poll with the results always displayed.
Silentum Guestbook Demo Cleared posted on January 11, 2008
Because the demo guestbook was more than 150 pages and over 200KB, I decided to clear the file and start over.
Silentum Guestbook v1.4.0 Released posted on January 8, 2008
If the four digit verification code (which I've raised to five in the new version) wasn't enough to stop bots before, I've now added a hidden checkbox which, when checked, will stop the entry from going through. And since most bots complete every input field, this is an excellent addition when it comes to bot prevention. The new version can be previewed here, and is up for download here. Enjoy.
Silentum FormSend v1.4.0 Released posted on January 7, 2008
It's not much more than a cosmetic update, but a new version is up nonetheless. The table surrounding it had way too much spacing and padding, so I just condensed it a little. I also renamed some variables and cleaned up the code a bit. The new version can be downloaded here.
Changed Platforms posted on January 2, 2008
Not that this will affect anybody but me, but my host has changed the platform that HyperSilence.net is hosted on. This means my FTP will be faster, and the site itself also might be a little faster. If you encounter any errors or problems, don't hesitate to let me know. Thanks.
Happy New Year posted on January 1, 2008
If you were around last year, you might remember that I updated all the scripts on the site at the start of 2007. It seems to be a tradition, because I've done it again. All eight ten scripts on the site have been updated in light of the new year. The only one with a significant change is Silentum Guestbook. I fixed a few common lines which were causing errors for some people. All the other scripts have just had their "readme.txt" files updated in celebration of 2008. I've also been rearranging the About section the past few days, and I'll try to keep updating the site statistics nightly. Happy New Year everyone.
Silentum Hex Check v1.1.0 Released posted on December 5, 2007
In addition to generating a random six digit hex code, you can now generate a three digit, web safe hex color as well. This is the only change in v1.1.0. You can test it out by clicking here.
Slight Code Update posted on December 1, 2007
Not that it will matter to anybody but me, but I've updated the XHTML and CSS a little bit. Got rid of a few tags which were serving no purpose, and cleaned up the CSS a tad. The site is also about 40 pixels wider than it was before.
Silentum PasswordGen v3.1.0 Released posted on November 24, 2007
I've been in sort of a "script updating mood" in the last couple days, as you can probably tell. It's not the biggest update in the world, but now, along with uppercase/lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols, you can also generate passwords containing spaces. The new version can be downloaded here, and you can view the demo here.
Silentum Uploader v1.3.0 Released posted on November 23, 2007
That's right, two updates in the same day! This one isn't as big of an update, however. I've simply reduced some of the error messages people were getting most frequently, and organized the code a little better.
Silentum Poll v1.1.0 Released posted on November 23, 2007
Turns out I got the admin system up and running flawlessly sooner than I thought. The new version of the poll is available for download here, and the demo, as always, can be viewed on the menu.
Admin System For Silentum Poll posted on November 22, 2007
Because I haven't really changed Silentum Poll since its initial release, I decided to make a pretty big update to it. The next version (v1.1.0) of Silentum Poll will include an admin system. This is an extra page which will allow you to change all the options on the poll (date, header, question, answers, votes, cookie name, redirect page, and cookie timeout) through a form, rather than doing it all manually in a text editor. A couple new files will be added to the package, but they're worth it considering how much easier it will be to change polls. I'll be testing the admin system out over the next couple days, and it should be available by Saturday.
Silentum Hex Check v1.0.2 Released posted on November 4, 2007
It's not the biggest update in the world, but I added a small little feature to Silentum Hex Check. Beneath the form, there's now a link labeled "Generate Random Hex Color," which will generate a random six digit hex color when clicked. You can test it out here.
Silentum Counter Plus v1.1.1 Released posted on November 3, 2007
Silentum Counter Plus has received a well deserved makeover today. I've abolished the 25×25 pixel images and instead, replaced them with two different style of 13×13 pixel images. You can now choose whether you want the fancier Vivaldi font, or two new types of Digital fonts. Check out the new demo of the counter here, or download it here.
Silentum Guestbook v1.2.1 Released posted on October 29, 2007
It's a minuscule update at the most. All I changed in this new version was the display of IP addresses. Instead of displaying the first seven characters of an IP address, it displays only the first two octets. This will ensure that the last two octets stay private.
I'm Still Here posted on October 12, 2007
I haven't quite abandoned the site yet. I've just been preoccupied lately with The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass for Nintendo DS. I really don't have anything new to report in, just that I'm still here and I still manage the site daily. A script update may be coming in the near future.
403 - Forbidden posted on August 28, 2007
No, you weren't IP banned from the site. My host was having some serious issues yesterday, and the site was down for almost everyone most of the day. The problem is resolved now though, and everything should be running smoothly. I apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused.
Silentum Hex Check v1.0.0 Released posted on July 24, 2007
While I was messing around with colors today, I got a new idea for a script. Not the biggest or best one, but it could definitely be useful to some people. It's called Silentum Hex Check. In a nutshell, it's a form where you enter a six digit hex color at. Then you click "Check," and the background changes to that color. It's available for download, and can be previewed here.
New Pictures of My 1972 Firebird posted on July 2, 2007
Almost all the pictures I had up before were from last year, so I decided to take a brand new set of pictures, and I think they turned out very well. There are sixteen of them, and you can view them all here.
Happy Anniversary! posted on June 23, 2007
As you may already notice by the colorful banner, today, HyperSilence.net is officially two years old. In light of this occasion, all users with more than one post on the boards will receive a ten Karma bonus to their account. I'd like to thank everyone for visiting the site these past two years, because without the ~300 of you per day, I'd have no reason to maintain the site.
Silentum Counter Plus v1.1.0 Released posted on June 1, 2007
The main update in this version is the number images. The backgrounds on them are now transparent, and you can choose between small images or large images. The new version can be seen here.
Changed Hosts posted on May 3, 2007
You may have noticed the past few days that HyperSilence.net has been offline for several hours each day, and often other times running slowly. This is because my now previous host (PowWeb) is the biggest heap on the web. It took a couple days, but everything is on my new host now, and will be running faster.
Silentum LoginSys v1.0.0 Released posted on May 1, 2007
After more than four months with no new scripts, I've finally thought of one that could prove useful. It's a login system that could be used to restrict pages on your site, or used on a message board. There's a screenshot of it here.
I've also removed the seven forwarding links from the bottom of the menu. They seemed to clutter up the page.
Silentum Boards v2 posted on April 26, 2007
In case you haven't already noticed, Silentum Boards are back online, sporting a new version. Over the past few days, I've been optimizing the XHTML and PHP as much as I can. Feel free to register and hang out in the "Lounge."
In completely unrelated news, I got new speakers installed in My 1972 Firebird, and there are a couple pictures of them online. They put my old speakers to shame.
April Fools posted on April 1, 2007
Okay, so it wasn't the most extravagant or clever joke in the world, but it sure does look neat. There's a screenshot of the "joke" here, in case you missed it.
Silentum PasswordGen v3.0.0 Released posted on March 7, 2007
For the first real update to the script in over four months, I've pretty much rewritten the whole thing. You can now choose which of the four "types" (lowercase/uppercase letters, numbers, and symbols) to include when generating a password using checkboxes. The script still essentially operates the same way, but this gives you more control over what characters go into the password. The new version is available for download, and can be previewed here.
mysql_query("INSERT INTO siteupdates") posted on March 2, 2007
I've finally taken the time to learn MySQL. It's a surprisingly easy language to learn. It may be a while before any of my scripts are affected, but I'll eventually be integrating it into them, and/or coding brand new scripts that use it. I'm tempted to trash the current setup on my boards and change to a MySQL database, but I haven't made my final decision yet.
Favorite Icon (favicon.png) Changed posted on February 4, 2007
It's amazing how much text you can actually fit on a 16×16 pixel canvas. If you don't know what I'm talking about, look to the left of the URI in your address bar. Depending on your browser settings, you may need to view the icon before it appears. This icon is much better than the previous one, which I've had since the site began.
Silentum Uploader Issue posted on January 19, 2007
Due to the number of people emailing me about Silentum Uploader giving them an error while trying to upload files, I've added an extra step in the "readme.txt" file. The majority of the time, you'll need to CHMOD the files and folder to 777 before using the script so that anyone can read, write, and execute them. I've also modified the error message so it reflects the new issue.
All Scripts Updated posted on January 1, 2007
In light of the new year, I've decided to update all eight scripts on the site. The "readme.txt" files needed some serious rewriting anyway, and a couple of the scripts have been partially altered. Mainly Silentum Counter and Silentum Uploader, both sporting new versions. What new scripts will arrive in 2007? Only time will tell. Happy New Year.
Silentum Poll v1.0.0 posted on December 18, 2006
I've finally taken the time to make my poll script more user friendly, and I have put the first version of it up for download. You can preview the poll completely styled on the menu.
Six New Pictures posted on November 23, 2006
I've taken six more pictures of my car. Three of the interior and three of the engine. They can be found on the My 1972 Firebird page, accordingly.
Silentum FormSend v1.3.0 Released posted on November 15, 2006
Silentum FormSend v1.3.0 has been released today, and there have been some very noticeable cosmetic changes to it. Most of the code has stayed the same, but I've placed the form inside a table instead of a fieldset. The new version is available for download.
New Tires & Rims posted on November 8, 2006
My 1972 Firebird. That is all.
Silentum Counter Plus v1.0.0 posted on October 27, 2006
After introducing Silentum Counter back in June of 2005, I finally created a new counter; this time with the numbers displayed using images instead of text. It's called Silentum Counter Plus, and can be previewed here.
Silentum PasswordGen v2.0.0 Released posted on October 23, 2006
After a few months of letting the script sit, I finally updated it. This version has a few noticeable updates. You can now generate between one and five passwords at a time, instead of just one. I also added 0's to the numbers. Before, you could only generate numbers from 1 to 9. The password options are now inside a table, so that the script appears more organized. The new version can be previewed here.
Poll posted on October 20, 2006
If you glance over at the menu, you'll notice there's a new poll on it that I coded earlier today. Beneath it, you can view the source of the poll file to see how it operates. You could potentially use that to put the poll on your site, but the source is not yet available to download. I'll start a page to archive old polls in a week or so.
New Script posted on October 11, 2006
I coded another new basic PHP script which is already up for download. It's called Silentum Event Calendar. An example can be viewed here.
Silentum Guestbook v1.0.1 Released posted on October 9, 2006
Silentum Guestbook v1.0.1 has been released. Five smiley images can now be posted in messages, and the codes for them are listed to the right of the "Message" box. An additional update has been in the PHP code, where writing the entries to the .txt file now abolishes new line breaks. The new version can be previewed here.
Silentum Guestbook v1.0.0 Released posted on September 20, 2006
Again, another new version of Silentum Guestbook has been released. This time, the biggest update has been the layout of the guestbook, as well as the verification code. There is now a 4 digit verification code you must enter before posting. This should greatly cut down on spam posted in the guestbook. The form is also now placed in a table, which makes it look more organized. The new version is available under the Guestbook page, and can be previewed here.
Silentum Guestbook v0.5.0 Released posted on September 17, 2006
I jumped straight to v0.5.0 because there's been a fairly large update. The censored word in the message is now displayed so that the visitor knows what censored word they used. There are also more censored words added to prevent spam. Much of the code has been reduced and updated on every file included, and you now receive a message after posting to inform you that the entry was successfully added. The "layout.php" file has been omitted as well. I'd recommend downloading the new version if you had v0.3.0 already installed.
Silentum Guestbook v0.3.0 Released posted on September 11, 2006
Again, the only change in this version involves censored words. Thanks to some consistent bots, I've acquired a large list of helpful censored words to prevent spam. The new version of the script is available on the Guestbook page. If you're not worried about censored words, then don't bother downloading it. Additionally, I added some new pictures of my car, and took some of the really old ones down.
New Pictures of My Car posted on August 25, 2006
I took eight more pictures of my car. You can find them under the My 1972 Firebird page. I've rearranged all the old images so that the newest ones are on top.
Silentum Guestbook v0.2.0 Released posted on August 23, 2006
The main change in the new version is the word censor. It now prevents the message from even being posted when a censored word is detected, instead of just censoring the word with asterisks. It's also case insensitive, and I've made it easier to add words. The new version of the script is available on the Guestbook page.
Some Site Changes posted on August 20, 2006
For the past few hours, I've been changing the design of the site a tad. I created a new banner last night, which is a bit larger than the old one. The sections on the left menu are now spaced out, and there are some new external links. A lot of the CSS has been modified so that it is more organized. I've also rewritten the summary at the top of each page, and deleted some of the old files that were serving no purpose.
Additionally, my email has been down for the last two weeks, so I haven't received any email sent within that time period. It's now working properly, so if you sent any emails, please resend them.
Boards Back Up posted on August 11, 2006
Well, I'm done fixing up the boards. They'll look the same as before, only because I cleaned up some of the code, and not the output that you see. They do, however, have a new URI. They're now located at http://hypersilence.net/boards, instead of in a subdomain. I updated all the "readme.txt" files for the scripts with the new URI. That's all for now.
Boards Down posted on August 3, 2006
The boards will be down the next few days because I'm working on the code some bit, and don't want them to be buggy and cluttered up. They'll most likely be back up before August 14.
New Guestbook Script posted on July 23, 2006
I know I said I'd be making a poll script, but I changed my mind. I thought a guestbook script would be a nice addition to the site, rather than a poll I'd have to keep changing every week or so. It's not currently available yet, as I am still making changes to it. It may be available as soon as tomorrow. It's available.
Examples Added posted on June 26, 2006
On all of the scripts' pages, there are now bare examples of them all. This will allow you to view the scripts in action before actually downloading them and putting them on your web site. Also, the site's one year anniversary was three days ago, but unfortunately, I wasn't here to see it. Let's go for another year though, and see where the site ends up.
A New Layout posted on June 6, 2006
As you may have noticed, the site now has a brand new layout. It's not the best layout in the world, and it still uses the same basic text/menu placement, but it looks a lot better than the other one, and sports a modified color scheme. If you find any errors, broken links, or have suggestions on how to make it better, let me know.
